Penn College sociology faculty member evaluates manuscriptMay 2, 2016
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — A member of the sociology faculty at the Pennsylvania College of Technology has been invited to evaluate a manuscript for publication in the journal Contemporary South Asia.
Vinay Bahl, associate professor of sociology, was invited to evaluate “Saris and Contemporary Indian Womanhood” by the editor of Contemporary South Asia, a journal published in association with the British Association of South Asian Studies. The journal is based in Manchester, United Kingdom.
Bahl has taught sociology at Penn College since 1996. She holds a doctorate from the State University of New York at Binghamton. In 2002-03, she was invited to the College de France, Paris, as a visiting scholar, and also served as a visiting scholar at Amsterdam’s International Institute of Asian Studies in 2004.
Bahl has published three books (one co-edited) and many articles on subjects that include industrialization, the working class, the caste system, the women’s movement, music, South Asian women’s clothes and Third World women.
