Antidepressant treatment has been accepted as one of the new strategies in cancer adjuvant therapy. However, systemic studies on the treatment of depression in patient with cancer have not been well documented.

Thirteen fluorescent labeled polymorphic microsatellite markers were analyzed in 83 cases of colorectal carcinoma and matched normal tissue DNA by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). PCR products were eletrophoresed on an ABI 377 DNA sequencer. Genescan 3.7 and Genotype 3.7 software were used for loss of heterozygosity (LOH) scanning and analysis. Compared with clinicopathological features, significant relationship was observed between LOH frequencies on D4S3018 locus.
Ampullary small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma is extremely rare and has only been documented in few case reports and retrospective study. The patients with ampullary small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma usually presented after the age of 60 years, and a male predilection was observed. Only two cases of a small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma associated with an adenoma have been described in a retrospective study. There has been no radiology report describing the imaging features of these coexisting tumors of the ampullary region.

It has long been known that environmental factors play a part in the development of rheumatoid arthritis; smoking and drinking alcohol, along with heredity, are particularly instrumental in increasing the risk of the disease. Scientists at Karolinska Institutet have now produced results that suggest that working environment factors can also increase the chances of developing rheumatoid arthritis.
Probiotic bacteria are widely used to relieve the symptoms of many disorders such as inflammatory bowel syndrome, diarrhea, and allergies. Probiotic mixtures have also been found to reduce the symptoms of diarrhea. In children a probiotic bacterium L. rhamnosus GG has been shown to prevent the onset of atopy and allergies. Molecular imaging technologies provide information about the functional or metabolic characteristics of malignancies, tumor stage and therapeutical response, and tumor recurrence; whereas conventional imaging technologies predominantly assess the tumor's anatomical or morphologic features including its size, density, shape, etc.
UC and CD, the two major forms of IBD are chronic, idiopathic inflammatory conditions of the gut with a typically relapsing and remitting course. A prominent feature in mucosal biopsies from patients with active IBD is infiltration by neutrophil granulocytes. Moreover, the number of eosinophil granulocytes is also increased in IBD. Upon activation, neutrophils release Calprotectin and MPO, two major neutrophil proteins, while eosinophils release the protein, EPX.
PAEF is a rare but often life-threatening cause of massive gastrointestinal bleeding. PAEFs have a mortality rate of nearly 100% in the absence of surgical intervention, and in most case, the diagnosis is not established preoperatively. This report presents one such case wherein the cause of death was PAEF-induced massive gastrointestinal bleeding that occurred after discharge of the patient from the hospital. Few previous reports on PAEF provide both the clinical course, including gastrointestinal endoscopic findings, and detailed autopsy findings.
